What are these mysteries that have been depicted in ancient drawings, described in the Bible and seen by countless people in the twentieth century. Will proof of their origin be forthcoming in the twenty-first century? For those who love a mystery and are genuinely interested in the phenomena, here are a few points to ponder........
It is my honest belief that many so-called sightings have originated in the mind for perhaps different reasons. It is also my belief that some people have reported sightings or abductions simply for the sport of watching peoples reaction. I also find it amazing that anyone would take someone's statement of abduction for granted, without extensive investigation which would include a background check of the abductee, ruling out a history of fraud, sport or mental illness. With that said, I am intrigued with reputable sightings by reputable persons. I am fascinated by the various descriptions in the Bible of flying objects that brought messengers from God. But before you think these are all messengers from God, what about the sons of God coming in to the daughters of men and was discussed in a earlier segment? These appear to be messengers of Satan; now what?
Now again before we get carried away, should we not consider there are other worlds unrelated to Heavenly beings or Satan, or are all created by God? There are people who truly believe that our world is the only inhabited existence? Is there anyone who isn't aware that we have not begun to reach the end of space? I love to invade mans discoveries and then search beyond for no man has or will ever cease to know that he knows nothing as he learns more. To seek is to explore and explore is to discover and discover is to learn. As we learn, we discover that we are without knowledge and wisdom for we continually destroy or hide that which has been found . If we deal only with reputable witnesses in this segment, then are we seeing objects that are of another dimension? Are they propelled through time and space by some means that we are yet to discover? Why do we have scientists that can not accept there is probably things beyond their knowledge that does exist, but their ego is self-limiting? Other scientists have the ability to look outside the tunnel and are more adaptable to expansion of awareness. We have had a president of the United States, astronauts, policemen and many other respected professions with impecable reputations see the objects. But we are also experiencing our government or other entities that put out so much misinformation and/or put information in the hands of unstable persons, and certainly someone gives outlandish tales to the public to make all stories look like they are being invented by the demented.
Around 1962 while living in Sacramento, CA, I was lying on the lawn one night just gazing at the stars and enjoying the cool of the late evening. I became aware of what looked like five or six stars playing tag in the north eastern sky. I sat up and gazed for several minutes watching what appeared to be star games. I called several neighbors to join in and ended up with about a dozen people watching the light-show. We all watched in awe as the lights appeared and disapeared at will, streak off in formation and vanish. Several nights brought the same type of display at different sites but each from the general area of sky. One night we had most of one city block watching the lights. What were they,, I don't know. One thing I'm sure of is that we had no aircraft that could manuever the degree of arching or the spectacular rate of speed they were able to exhibit.
I now limit my study of the phenomena to educational stations on t v, or to first hand accounts of persons I encounter. I find the same curiosity when speaking with people in general; some weird tales that I find hard to believe, some that are probably true and some that appear to be from those seeking fun and sport. Where are the serious open-minded scientists without ego problems. You guys know they exist, now release what you know to the public. One bit of sympathy for the governments stance; How many people would go over the edge one way or another if they knew there were visiting aliens? And as a point of thought; are we the alien? Did God create man/woman, bringing them here from another place? Where did the first creation of seeds, plants, animals, etc. originate? I think we are relatively naive in our search of complexities. I believe we as a race cannot accept that God is truly a scientist beyond our comprehension, so therefore it is easier for some to say there is no God. That leads me to believe that those who can not accept that there is a creator, probably are afraid there is. Explore the thought. I believe in God, therefore I have no fears. If God invented/created all, and man possibly was brought from another place then who put the first ones in other places. That of course leads to, who created God or where did he come from? The branch of science that believe we all ascended from the ocean at one point or the other and gradually evolved will tell us God and all creatures evolved from some other ocean out of our universe perhaps? Then what or who created that zone. Is this a ridiculous train of thought; not really, it is simply expounding on the theory that there are no concrete answers, although intelligence will continue expanding yet we will never be able to find even a small iota of the mysteries of who we are, where we've come from, where we're going or what was the real beginning. nd for the atheist and desbelief in creation, then what did the universe begin with? How do you create/make something from nothing? Come on, you must have something to make something. Even the air you breathe is created by atmosphere. Try going to 25,000 feet and breathing without oxygen.
Erich Von Daniken made much of the world aware of the many mysteries of space as well as our world, back in the seventies. He was instrumental in tweaking our curiosity and I found some of his theories intriguing, however my feelings are that he had not done enough scientific research before writing his theories, and the world of science or laymen never forgave him for that. The following article of a well known researcher will be interesting to most people who have studied the phenomenon.

Over the last 30 years he has been investigating the subject, he has amassed over 3000 pilot sighting reports.
Dr. Richard Haines is a Senior Research Scientist at the NASA-Ames Research Centre. He is best known for his work with pilots and their UFO sightings. Over the last 30 years he has been investigating the subject, he has amassed over 3000 pilot sighting reports. During his introduction he mentioned that his research has taught him a lot more about Science, Engineering, Optics and Human behaviour He has also investigated photographic evidence of UFO's but stresses that UFO photos are easily faked, however, points out that there are good UFO photographs.
Dr. Haines commenced the lecture by asking the audience a few questions.
How many pilots are present?
How many people have a science background or education?
How many people have seen what they believe is a UFO?
And finally how many reported the sighting?
Once a show of hands were displayed they dramatically dropped off when the final question was asked. Dr. Haines strongly urged people to report sightings so they can be investigated.
A series of slides were shown to demonstrate the diversity of aircraft and airframes from the Wright Brothers to virtually present day. These included the likes of vintage bi-planes to the P-51 Mustang. Instrument panels were also shown to give the audience an idea of progress in technology amongst aircraft and cockpit instrumentation and how the volume of information required by a pilot is significantly different than before.
According to Dr Haines there are a number of reasons why he has focused on pilot sightings. The main one being their professional reputation and their excellent training. Also the fact that pilots will have thought of all the possible answers to what they saw before reporting a UFO. Pilots also have the unique ability to establish distance of a UFO to background, that is, the sighting can take place while the plane is above the UFO, therefore giving the pilot a point of reference in relation to the background. Finally, pilot reports are usually confirmed by ground control giving the sighting greater credibility.
During his 30 years of investigations Dr. Haines has established a percentage break down of what type of pilot has reported a UFO. From his 3000 odd reports from 1916 (WWI) to October 1996, military pilots have reported 52% of these sightings while commercial pilots represent 40%, private pilots 7% and less than 1% for test pilots. Of these sightings, most are seen in good weather and 30% are during the day while the remaining 70% account for the night. Approximately 3% of the total reports have experienced electromagnetic effects on instruments when a UFO is close to the aircraft; even dimming of the cabin lights has been reported. These effects have lasted for 5 seconds up to a staggering 180 minutes of flight time.
The rest of the night centred on the 1978 Valentich case. Dr Haines displayed the flight plan which Valentich logged for his flight to King Island as well as a map to illustrate the most probable route Valentich would have taken. After explaining the details of the flight plan and the journey of the flight, a weather map was shown for both the morning and the afternoon of the day of disappearance. This let the audience know of the near perfect flying conditions that were present during the night of 21st October 1978.
The most interesting revelation came when Dr Haines critically examined the official radio transcript. While slowly dissecting each word of the radio transmission recorded between Valentich and Melbourne International Airport (Tullamarine) on the night in question. Dr Haines was quick to point out that the words in brackets were words in which the official could not identify 100% (due background noise etc.). The night finished with Dr Haines reciting some UFO cases he has heard of and personally researched himself. One interesting account was that of a B-52 Bomber crew back in 1952, who witnessed some strange spherical objects around their aircraft. Upon reporting this sighting they were interrogated and the whole case was silenced. The crewmember then told Richard Haines that because of his experience after the sighting he would never report a UFO sighting again.
